The UK's premier self-drive fishing boat charter
The Stonefisher Boats are very stable with an ample cabin and plenty of deck space. This makes them ideally suited to many boating activities. Below are a few ideas but please give me a call if you don't see what you are looking for. Most of the activities below can take a full day at a leisurely pace or be combined to suit your requirements.
The Tamar Valley is a designate Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. What could be better on a nice day than a leisurely cruise on the Tamar and its tributaries - perfect for a family day out.
Find a sunny bay at Cawsand, Jenny Cliff, or Wembury Bay for example to drop the anchor (using the powered windlass of course!) and enjoy your lunch. Have a completely stress-free start to the day by letting me provide you with your picnic hamper, supplied from Chandlers, renown caterers of distinction based at QAB. I can provide everything from cheese sandwiches to a lobster and champagne feast!
There is a large element of luck involved with this one, however, the Atlantic waters coming into the South West are rich in large animal life. Whales and turtles are rare visitors to these waters but dolphins and basking sharks are a more common sight. They are more easily sighted on very calm days when the spectacular sight of diving gannets can give away their position.
I'm afraid I'm no bird-watcher so I can't sell the potential of the area to enthusiasts very well. I am aware that Bill Oddie makes regular visits to the area and Tony Soper is resident in the South Hams - confirmation indeed of the rich bird activity in the area!
There is always something going on in Plymouth Sound that makes great viewing. The F1 Grand Prix, F4 Honda powerboats, Round Britain and Ireland Yacht Race, Tall Ships, Navy Days Air and Water Display are just some of the fabulous events taking place in and around the Sound. All are advertised by their sponsors on the net but for a comprehensive day-by-day account of activities in the Sound click here.
